When to Come & How Long to Stay

Time is an important element of Ayurvedic healing. To ensure meaningful clinical results, minimum stay for a maintenance Pancha Karma in a healthy patient is 8 days. Common treatment period to address a health condition is 21 days. A complete treatment 'mandalam' is 41 days. Please email with the specifics of your health status and goals for an estimate on ideal number of treatment days.

Also, Kerala enjoys distinct seasons, each with different climate qualities.

Monsoon-- June thru July Rasa
Ayurveda's treatment season opens each year with the beginning of monsoon, Kerala's rainy season, on June 1st. This season is traditionally considered the BEST time for taking traditional therapies, and for meditation. Read a bit more about monsoon here.

Spring-- August thru Mid-October
A lovely time for treatments and travel...!

Second Monsoon
Mid-October thru mid-November A little extra rain water during the year keeps Kerala lush and bursting with an abundance of medicinal plants. A wonderful time for taking treatments and retreat at Rasa Ayurveda.

Winter Season-- Mid-November, December, January & February
During winter, temperatures are cooler and the air is dry. This is a fine time for treatment, and a good time for traveling also.

Hot Season-- March, April & May
In March, we offer a period of study and experience for Ayurvedic interns. Rasa Ayurveda is closed in April & May to allow staff rest during the heat, and to enjoy time with their families during school holidays.

Every woman's body has different needs. Pancha Karma requires a minimum stay of 8 days. Ayurvedic intake and other therapies are available during a shorter stay. A usual course of treatment takes 21 days. If you'd like feedback about how long we'd want to treat you for best clinical results, send us an email describing your health situation and goals, and our Doctor will do her best to anticipate the best length of treatment for you.)
